There are a few different ways you can apply to rent a property from Sanctuary. Please click on the accordions below for more information:
Most of our homes are let through local authorities. The easiest way to rent a home from us is to join your local authority’s housing list.
Some local authorities have a choice-based letting scheme. This lets you tell your council which properties you’re interested in. We are members of many Choice Based Lettings schemes across the country and you may be eligible to apply for one of our properties through this route. Contact your local authority for more information.
We hold our own waiting list in some areas of the country. Not all areas have waiting lists. We carry out regular reviews of our waiting lists and open or close waiting list areas accordingly.
Due to a high number of applicants on our Housing waiting list, we are not registering any new applications for our General Needs Housing. A review of the waiting list is currently taking place.
We will update our website once the review has been completed.
Our waiting list is open for Older Persons Housing flats (age 55+ and Sheltered Housing flats). For Sheltered Housing flats, applicants must be over the age of 60 or 55+ if in receipt of PIP (Personal Independence Payment).
When applying to rent a property from Sanctuary, you will go through some pre-eligibility checks as part of the application process. This is so we can establish if you meet our banding criteria, based on your housing need and if we have an open waiting list.
You can apply to be put on one of our open waiting lists by filling out our online pre-eligibility form or calling 0800 131 3348. We also have a text facility for those who are deaf or hard of hearing: 07800 006781 or we can connect you to a British Sign Language interpreter.
Please note, the waiting list for direct applicants is closed for the North Region.
Once you have submitted the form and we have confirmed that you are eligible, you will be sent an electronic application form to complete via DocuSign.
More details about the DocuSign process can be found in our video:
We have some immediately available properties which are advertised on our website via Rightmove. If you would like to express an interest for one of these properties, then please click on the below link for our Immediately Available Homes.
We work with a number of partners across the country who can help you find social rented housing. We will continue to advertise our properties with various Local Authorities in line with our nomination agreements. We recommend that you contact your Local Authority to register for housing with them, as this would allow you to apply for any properties via nominations.
To see a list of all our immediately available properties , please see our Rightmove listings. You can search for a particular location on our Rightmove listings by clicking the "Prioritise listings with. + Add Keyword" and entering a location:
